Week 9 Thing 21 - Podcast

I think I found a cool Podcast. It is about a Camel Bookmobile. An American librarian invented the camel bookmobile to bring literacy to nomads living in northeastern Kenya. You can go to the link below and hear a little about it, and do some more exploring while you're there. I added the link to my Del.icio.us Account.
Try this link: http://mybeach-house.blogspot.com/2007/07/week-6-thing-13-delicious.html
The next link will tell you more about it too.

Also, check out the next URL: You can watch a short movie clip featuring the Camel Bookmobile and the people reading their books. It is way cool!

I explored other podcast in Itunes and I found one about beaches and surfing and I downloaded it to my Itunes account. I tried to copy & paste but for some reason it wouldn't work.

Do you like the picture of the "Camel Librarian"?

Week 9 Thing 20 YouTube - My video-Bookmobile

I took this video clip when we were getting ready to out on the road. I love YouTube!
This would be a great tool to use for all types of library programs to give people an idea of what it is about. For instance, maybe a short clip to introduce a puppet show, storytimes, and even a book review. I have really enjoyed this exercise!

Another YouTube

I love cats, and when I saw this video clip, I thought it was so funny. Did you notice this cat is also into 23 Things!!! How clever.

Just another Thing.....

FAREWELL OLD FRIEND

To some she wasn't very dependable. She was old and worn out. Many people, young and old alike, came to depend on her. When she didn't show up, there were a lot of disappointed people. To some she brought a sense of adventure, an opportunity to travel to places only their imaginations could take them. She'll be replaced by another one; younger, with no bruises, dents or scratches. The younger one will be the talk of the town, and everyone will want to visit her.

But the old, broken down one will never be forgotten. Goodbye Ole' Girl, goodbye Blue Bookmobile. cry

Week 8 Thing 19 - Web 2.0

I really liked exploring Web 2.0. There is so much to search!
http://www.seomoz.org/web2.0/#cat_68

I can see where this would be very beneficial to our library patrons because you can search for just about anything. Here are a few I looked at:

http://www.yelp.com/ Find out what is great, and not so great in your area.
http://wwwl.meebo.com/index-en.html For those who are into Instant Messaging.
http://www.revolutionhealth.com/ For those interested in health issues.
http://www.biblio.com/ A great site to find books that are out of print.
http://arcaplay.com/ For those who are into on line games.

And the list goes on...

These are just a few searches that I found interesting. I know you will find what you are searching for. Try it out! I think it is very easy to maneuver around to get to where you want to go.

Week 8 Thing 18 (Pt.2) Google Docs

Here is my draft from Google Docs http://docs.google.com

This was very easy to post, unlike ZoHo. I'm not sure why I had such a hard time.

My husband and I are about to become grandparents again. Number 12 is on the way, and we found out just today that a little boy will be joining the family. This makes 9 boys, and three girls! We are very happy and excited to welcome this new little one, and maybe a little stressed when we think about Christmas$$$$$$$. It will be fun though. Our kids won't tell us the name of the baby; they said there has to be some surprise.

Week 8 Thing 18 - Online Productivity-Zoho Writer

Yikes! It took me HOURS to figure out how to post my draft from ZoHo to my blog.

http://writer.zoho.com/jsp/home.jsp?targetURL=%2Findex.do

Here it is. Don't ask me how I got it here, but Hallelujah, it's here. But not my little emoticon.... :o (

ZoHo is fun and easy. I think I will use this tool in place of Microsoft Works. I am amazed at how much I have learned in the past few weeks. I would have missed so much had I not signed up to particiapate in 23 Things. Now the test will be, will I retain all this information? My husband is so impressed, he wants me to set up a blog for him!!!

Week 7 Thing 17 - Sandbox Wiki

Here we are at Thing 17 already, and only 6 more to go?

I have been exploring the sandbox, and I'm not sure if I did this excercise correctly. I sure hope so! I added my Blog to the Blog Favorites, and then I went to a wiki page, edited it, and posted a picture, and told a little about it. You can check it out, and please, feel free to comment. That's how we learn. If the picture I posted doesn't show up, put in the password, mdstaff, Elaine & elaine@carr.org

Week 7 Thing 16 - Wikis

Well, discovering wikis has been interesting. I looked at a few, and the Book Lovers wiki is cool. Check it out: http://booklovers.pbwiki.com/Princeton%20Public%20Library

This would be a good site to tell patrons about. Maybe we already do?

Week 6 Thing 15 - Web 2.0 & Library 2.0

After reading all this information, I realize how far libraries have come, and how much farther they will go. With all the technology out there, we will surely be able to meet the needs of the patrons. I could sit and read all day, and blog day and night, but I don't have time!!!! It has been an interesting adventure so far.
When I read the perspective titled "To More Powerful Ways to Cooperate", I saw this site at the bottom of the page, and thought this could be interesting and helpful to patrons.

Week 6 Thing 14 - Technorati

Wow, so much information, it is mind boggling! I did a little exploring, trying to figure out how the tags work, and maybe some people do find it helpful, but I don't think this is something I would use. I am glad for the opportunity to be able to explore and read about things I never knew existed before blogging!

Week 6 Thing 13 - Del.icio.us and Tags

I've explored Del.icio.us and Tagging. I worked on this at home, and after setting up an account (yes, another one!), I installed buttons to click on which makes it easy to access the sites I enjoy viewing. You can look too.

Week 5 Thing 12 - Rollyo

I must have tried for over an hour to get this search bar onto my blog. I think it really works!!! Choose Wavejumper's picks.

Week 5 Thing 11 - Library Thing

Well, after many late nights, lots of reading and exploring, not to mention a headache, I think I have finally conquered Library Thing. Click on the link to view the list of books I've cataloged. Whew!!!!

http://www.librarything.com/catalog/wavejumper

I just learned how to add the book covers to my blog, but for some reason that I can't figure out, you have to click on "Week 5 Thing 11 - Library Thing" to see them.
